// ABOUT THE WORK
LUCKY, 2025
Unlike in German, the English language makes a clearer distinction between passive, accidental happiness ("being lucky") and deeply felt, active happiness ("happy"). In its search for happiness, the installation LUCKY sends us through a multitude of scientific and cultural references, from Schrödinger and Magritte to the black cat. The latter heralds misfortune and demons, especially in Germany, while the black Maneki Neko (Japanese for lucky cat) is explicitly intended to keep these misfortunes and demons away. She asks us: Have we been lucky this time?
Can we be truly happy?
